5 things every parent should know

28 Jan · Aaron Moir ·

When you become a parent, there will be many little things that will make your life much easier. It is like entering a whole new world of care and attention and – more often than not – freaking out about a situation that has arisen. The baby could provide all those for you, but you can keep your mental state in check if you are prepared at all times. There are some things that you should know and with that knowledge come easier parenthood and some quieter and calmer days to enjoy.

Here are 5 things you need to know about parenting:

#1 – Always carry a backup diaper.

This one is very important. When you are going out with the baby, you should never leave the house without backup. The baby will get soil (or worse!) at the most inconvenient of times and in the most inconvenient of places, and you will hear about it. And then you have to take care of it, so be prepared.

#2 – Always wash the stuffed animals.

Your kid will most likely get attached to a certain fluffy toy. That is the toy you have to start paying close attention to and provide it with frequent baths every two weeks or so. Stuffed animals can get infested with germs and you do not want those around your baby. Babies are very susceptible to germs and the like, and you want them only around clean items.

#3 – Learn to meditate.

A nice soothing mantra will sometimes be the difference between you being on your toes for the duration of the day and you being calm and dealing with your baby’s constant noisemaking. Practice meditation whenever you have the time for it and you will be a much more patient person. And patience is very much a prerequisite to being a good parent.

#4 – Be fast with changing diapers.

You need to learn to change diapers as fast as you can. Smells aside, you can’t spend most of your day over your baby’s bottom. And if you are in a public place, you want to be over and done with it quickly so that you do not inconvenience anyone around you. Train, be fast, and then have more time to have fun.

#5 – Have a play spot.

Never leave the baby without any place for strictly playing. You want them to have their own play spot, some place to enjoy time by themselves and leave you to do something for yourself. Yes, parenting is a 24/7 job, but you can still have some time out for yourself every now and then. So find the baby either a bouncer or a play math and have them entertained there.

Learn these tricks and be a better parent. Every parent should be aware of these facts and then implement them to make both the baby’s and their own life that much simpler and more enjoyable. One day you won’t be needing them, but till then, learn and practice.
